ABSTRACT

COVID-19 has massively hit the whole world in many different aspects of life including the delivery of embedded industrial seminar (EIS), which is one of the significantly important academic activities in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) higher institutions. EIS, which was previously conducted on a face-to-face (F2F) basis has been urged to undergo a transition to the online alternative. It is therefore a great interest in conducting a preliminary study to evaluate the effect of COVID-19 on this transition, based on the undergraduate students' perception. The survey was conducted on 129 respondents who have participated in an online EIS organized by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), through a set of questionairres on an online form. Besides revealing a high degree of agreement on the direct impact of COVID-19 on the EIS implementation, the results also possess significant potential for the online EIS to equally replace the F2F implementation in the future. © 2023 Author(s).

ABSTRACT

Many people are trading in the forex market during the COVID-19 pandemic with the hope of earning money, but they are experiencing shortages due to the lack of information and technology-based tools for existing daily data. Sometimes traders only use moving averages in trading data, even though this information needs to be processed again to get the right inflection point. The objective of this research is to find inflection points based on Forex trading database. Another algorithm can also be used to determine the inflection point between two points on a moving average. This can be supported by the Bisection method used because it can guarantee that convergence will occur. The results show that the points resulting from the bisection calculation on the moving average provide a fairly accurate decision support for the location where the inflection point is located. From 10,000 data there is a standard deviation of 0.71 points which is very small compared to an average of 20 pips (points used as the difference in price values in forex). The use of the bisection method provides an accuracy of the results in seeing the inflection point of 87%. © 2023,International Journal of Advanced Computer Science and Applications. ABSTRACT

Purpose - The paper highlights the process-handling during the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) in combating pandemic COVID-19 in Malaysia. Design/methodology/approach - Malaysia first issued an EMCO following a cluster that involved a religious gathering. The EMCO was issued to lockdown the area, undertake screening, treat positive cases and quarantine their close contacts. Active case detection and mass sampling were the main activities involving the population in both zones. Findings - One hundred ninety-three confirmed COVID-19 cases were identified from the total population of 2,599. Of these cases, 99.5% were Malaysians, 31.7% were aged >60 years and all four deaths (Case Fatality Rate, 2.1%) were elderly people with comorbidities. One hundred and one cases (52.3%) were asymptomatic, of which 77 (77%) were detected during mass sampling. The risk factors contributing to the outbreak were contacts that had attended the religious gathering, regular mosque congregants, wedding ceremony attendees and close household contacts. Malaysia implemented an effective measure in the form of the EMCO to contain the COVID-19 outbreak, where the last cases were reported 16 days before the EMCO was lifted. Originality/value - The residents' compliance and inter-agency cooperation were essential elements to the success of the EMCO. A targeted approach using an EMCO should be implemented in a future pandemic.
